Sometimes Reality Sucks

Please forgive the phraseology of today's title - but sometimes you have to call it like it is.

Today was a "not so good day" as the reality of the process (surgery, recovery, post surgery treatment, recovery, etc.) began to set in. We got in a few good cries today - all of which are part of the process. In spite of it all, God is sovereign and we are blessed. Julie and I had a wonderful walk this morning and got to experience the fresh air and blue sky of Colorado, and of course each other's company. Our morning walks are great reminders that God has his hand on the pulse of the universe - that the sun still rises, the grass still grows, the birds still sing and life goes on.

We have made great progress in getting some of the logistics ironed out, thanks to Julie spending the better part of the day with the phone stuck to her ear. We have been able to make appointments with two plastic surgeons and the oncologist. Julie has also made some decisions regarding the type of "removal" surgery as well as reconstructive surgery she will have, which helps put some other things in motion.

We are still shooting for surgery on the 14th or 15th of next week, pending coordinating schedules.

We are so grateful for the pouring out of compassion and concern from friends and family - thank you all for your continued support and prayers. We will update you again after we talk with the various doctors over the next few days, and hopefully get a confirmed date on the surgery.

One additional prayer request in addition to those from yesterday - that God would provide the perfect team of doctors, nurses, pathologists (and cooperative insurance people) as well as the right surgery date.

Blessings to all
